In May 2025, Speak’s Co-Artistic Director Kaylie Melville attended two key new music events in Europe: Classical:NEXT (Berlin) and the O Professionals Programme (Rotterdam).
Classical:NEXT is the world’s largest meeting of art music professionals, bringing together a conference, project pitches, showcase concerts, an expo, and extensive networking opportunities. The O Professionals Programme, linked to O Fest’s program of opera and music theatre, focuses on the innovative Dutch and international music theatre scene through a series of panels, performances and thought-provoking discussions.
Kaylie writes: “These opportunities to connect with like-minded colleagues from across the world have been invaluable. It’s been exciting to share Speak’s innovative work in the art music and music theatre spaces, particularly news of our upcoming premiere of Pigeons, and very inspiring to see the new ground others are breaking in our artform.”
