Digital Echoes

Digital Echoes: in Development with Aaron Wyatt

During April, Speak’s Artist in Residence Aaron Wyatt continued the development of his new work Digital Echoes. Composed by Aaron for viola, percussion and electronics,  Digital Echoes is an exploration of landscapes and journeys, both physical and abstract. Space is reimagined through the digital realm, using the live generation of electronics that map the Australian landscape as a series of delay lines. As the percussionist slowly circles the room, the viola makes its own voyage across the internet, bouncing back from remote nodes that use the geography of our telecommunications network to create slightly unpredictable delays, in a sonic representation of the virtual landscape that the viola has traversed.

Stay tuned to find out more about this poignant new work!
