HEAVY WEIGHT

Heavy Weight (working title) will be a cross-disciplinary concert at the intersection of experimental music, documentary theatre and Olympic weightlifting.

Using the structure of an international weightlifting competition, it playfully mashes together sports documentary with impossible feats of percussion to pose questions about the nature of discipline, what it means to strive for perfection and the weight of expectation. Developed after spending time with eite trainers and lifters, the work features a trio of percussionists at the peak of their game.

Heavy Weight marks the first collaboration between much lauded theatre maker Roslyn Oades and Speak Percussion, led by co-Artistic Director Kaylie Melville.
